Yorba Linda, CA -- La Jolla Men's Volleyball team out of La Jolla, CA, went undefeated on there way to win the 1st Annual Chick-Fil-A Boys Invitational. They beat a very good Great Oak Volleyball team in 2 Games (25-23, 25-15) in the Gold Division Final. La Jolla faced Bishop Montgomery in the semifinals and won that match (25-14, 25-22). MVP Berkeley Miesfeld and All-Tournament Team member Gabriel Featherstone of La Jolla contributed in a big way throughout the 2 days.
Great Oak (Temecula, CA) who found their way into the Gold Division final by upsetting Canyon (Anaheim) in the semifinals (14-25, 25-22, 15-12). They also got huge contributions from All-Tournament team members Wyatt Fronk and Tomas Koja.
Other All-Tournament Team members are Matt Roussin of Canyon High School and Daniel Matheney of Bishop Montgomery.
In the Silver Division, Esperanza (Anaheim, CA) won in 3 games (21-25, 25-22, 15-8) over Vista Murrieta (Murrieta, CA).
In the Bronze Division, Damien (La Verna, CA) won in 2 games (25-20, 25-17) over Temecula Valley (Temecula, CA).
In the Copper Division, Godinez (Santa Ana, CA) won (25-22) over Villa Park (Villa Park, CA)
This is the 1st year of the Chick-fil-A Boys Invitational, which saw 16 teams from Southern, CA , Las Vegas, and San Diego compete over 2 days for the sole winner of the Chick-Fil-A Cup. The event was held at Yorba Linda and Esperanza High School.
Details on the 2019 2nd Annual Chick-Fil-A Boys Invitational will be posted on the Yorba Linda Men's Volleyball website in the coming months. We are looking to expand this tourney to 32 teams.
